PS5 BLACKOUT - Personal update!

I LOVE PLAYSTATION. THAT’S WHY I’M BLACKING OUT.

PlayStation has great games.

Amazing exclusives. Incredible worlds. Experiences I’ve genuinely loved.

That’s exactly why taking this week off is hard for me.

I’m not participating in the PS5 BLACKOUT because I hate PlayStation.

I’m doing it because I want to keep what makes PlayStation great — including the freedom to choose how I buy my games.

For me, physical games are a huge part of that.

When a game comes out, I don’t automatically hit “Buy” on the digital store.

I shop around.

💿 I check the physical edition.

🛒 I look at used and resale markets.

📱 I check the digital store.

💰 Then I choose whichever option makes the most sense for me.

Sometimes physical is cheaper. Sometimes digital is cheaper.

THAT’S THE POINT. I HAVE A CHOICE.

And when I buy physical, I have something I may be able to sell or trade later.

Maybe I finish a $70 game and don’t want it anymore. Why shouldn’t I be able to sell it and put that money toward my next game?

That matters to me.

Because gaming isn’t the only thing in my life I want to spend money on.

I want to save for a house.

I want to buy trading cards.

I enjoy electronics and robotics.

I have other goals, hobbies, and responsibilities.

Going completely digital doesn’t give me more choice.

It takes one of my choices away.

And if PlayStation ever becomes a platform where one digital storefront is effectively my only option for buying games, eventually that could price me out of the ecosystem I’ve loved.

I don’t want that.

I want PlayStation to succeed.

I want incredible PlayStation games.

I want a PS6 someday.

But I also want the choice to buy physical OR digital.

That’s what buying games should be:

Compare. Choose. Own what you can. Save where you can. Play.

So yes, taking a week away from PlayStation is difficult.

But I’m doing it because I’d rather give up PlayStation for one week than watch one of the things I value about gaming disappear for good.

That’s why I BLACKOUT. ⬛🎮

For those against the boycott or on the edge of partaking, I hope you can see how this affects all of us and will join this boycott for the greater good of every gamer and future gamers. A competitive market benefits everyone, even Sony.

So…
